Southern New Mexico’s representative in Congress, Yvette Herrell, calls herself “a conservative Republican with a trusted record of results.” But …

• If conservatism means representing ethical behavior, Yvette Herrell is no conservative. She voted against tough new ethics laws for Members of Congress and as a state legislator failed to disclose state contracts with her real estate business. Nonpartisan Vote Smart says Yvette Herrell failed its Political Courage Test by failing to provide voters with positions on key issues. 
• If conservatism means standing for the Constitution and the rule of law, Yvette is no conservative.  She voted against certifying the results of the 2020 election.  She avoided a vote for a bipartisan committee to investigate the deadly January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. MORE

Instead, with her constant cries of “crisis!” at the border, Yvette is engaged in deception and fear-mongering. Those are the manipulative tactics used by authoritarian regimes to distract from unprincipled power politics. There's more to immigration than this!
