Blue CD2 New Mexico is a group of volunteers who are working to keep Gabe Vasquez in Congress. We're also supporting Sarah Silva, who's running for NM House District 53. She'll make life better for New Mexicans.

Sarah Silva

A native of the Mesilla Valley, District 53 incumbent Sarah Silva has organized successful campaigns to hold big banks accountable, protect local families from foreclosure, raise the minimum wage in Las Cruces, designate the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks as a national monument, and support young immigrants applying for legal status.

As a member of the House Appropriations and Finance and House Tax and Revenue Committees, Sarah:

  • Protected New Mexicans from federal funding cuts by keeping ACA marketplace insurance premiums affordable and allocating additional funds to SNAP food benefits.

  • Helped New Mexico families by dedicating funds to address housing shortages, homelessness, and tribal housing issues, and by supporting the state’s universal childcare system.

  • Supported her district by working to ensure southern New Mexico’s Rio Grande water rights, and helped secure $2.6 million in funding for vital District 53 infrastructure projects.

Sarah sees as major issues in her district supporting families living in the rapidly growing and unincorporated Chaparral district, making sure that the city of Las Cruces’ expansion to the east makes for livable communities, and protecting the Organ mountains.
