BREAKING NEWS

On May 20, 2026, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the “21st Century ROAD to Housing” Act, a bipartisan bill that is expected to become law. Rep. Gabe Vasquez called it, “the biggest win for housing affordability in a generation.”

The bill curbs billionaire investors from buying up land and houses, expands construction of affordable housing, and gives New Mexicans more financing options for renting or buying a home. See more here.

Rep. Gabe Vasquez combats greedy billionaire landlords.

In New Mexico, one out of six homes is a mobile home. Corporate owners are buying whole parks at a time. Gabe heard from mobile home residents in Alamogordo and Albuquerque about sharp increases in pad rents, unexplained fees, and neglected utilities. So he insisted that a new housing bill include protections for mobile home residents.

When corporate owners bought a mobile home park in Aztec, New Mexico, they raised the rents by almost $200 a month and imposed new rules:  Learn more here

Here are bills Gabe has introduced and/or supports:

Keep Mobile Homes Affordable Act

NO price gouging mobile home residents.

One in six homes in New Mexico is a mobile home

Affordable HOMES Act

Cuts red tape and lowers costs for mobile home buyers

HOME Act

Ensures rents and housing costs stay within reach for working families

SUPPLY Act

Provides flexible financing for home-owners

Neighborhood Homes Investment Act

Incentivizes developers to build in low-income areas

Bipartisan Families First Housing Act

Blocks big investors from buying single-family homes

Stop Wall Street Landlords Act

Limits tax breaks on mortgages for large investors and funds construction of affordable housing

I refuse to sit by and let greedy, negligent landlords from out-of-state price gouge mobile home rental prices, driving our neighbors out of the homes and communities they have known all their lives.

Great Reasons to Keep Rep. Gabe Vasquez in Congress

1. He delivers for New Mexico

Gabe works hard to bring much needed improvements to Congressional District 2 and all of New Mexico. Learn more here. (When Republican Yvette Herrell represented the district in 2020-2022), she did not secure funding for any Community Project. In fact she signed a pledge specifically not to do that.)
